Here is my Pablo Picasso piece. In this painting, I used watercolor paint and oil pastels. Specifically, this painting turned out very colorful due to the fact that watercolors and oil pastels do not mix, therefore, I was able to outline the paining in oil pastels and paint the rest of the picture. I also used complementary colors to make the painting stand out. Pablo Picasso was a famous painter who drew odd looking people to express the way he was feeling. In this picture, I used dice to roll specific pieces to add to my painting. For example, I rolled a two and had to draw my eye a certain way. This allowed for my piece to be creative, such as Pablo Picasso.
An extension activity that would go along with this piece would work with a kindergarten classroom. I would introduce the students to watercolor paints and oil pastels. After introducing the alphabet and each letter sound, I would assign each student a letter to the alphabet. Then, once a student receives their letter, they will outline the letter and a picture of an item that begins with the letter with oil pastel. Due to oil pastels and watercolor paints not mixing due to their compositions, it will help the kindergarten students stay in the lines when painting. Furthermore, they will then paint the inside of the letter and their picture with watercolor paints. We will also discuss complimentary colors, as they will use these colors to make their pictures stand out. As the teacher, I would then hang the alphabet they created around the room.
